Fitted wardrobe cost calculator
On our example rates, a 2.4 m wide set of hinged fitted wardrobes in MFC comes out at £2,050 – £2,550, fitted. The same wall in spray-painted MDF is £2,750 – £3,450. Width and finish move the price most. Your fitter's own rates will differ, so use this to get your bearings before anyone comes out to measure. Every price on this page is subject to survey.
Example rates, not any firm's prices. It shows a price and asks for nothing: no name, no email. As you choose, a line drawing of the wardrobe changes to match.

What changes the price of fitted wardrobes?
Most fitters price per linear metre of wall, so a 3 m run costs roughly a quarter more than a 2.4 m one. Height matters less than people expect, until the ceiling goes above about 2.4 m.
MFC (melamine-faced chipboard) is the cheapest board and comes in a wide range of printed colours and woodgrains. Spray-painted MDF costs more because each door is sprayed, usually in a workshop, in any paint colour you like. Real wood veneer costs the most. On our example rates, painted is about a third dearer than MFC and veneer about 60% dearer.
Drawers, shoe racks, pull-down rails and lighting are priced on top. Four internal drawers and LED lighting take the 2.4 m MFC example from £2,050 – £2,550 to £3,000 – £3,700, subject to survey.
A sloped ceiling, a chimney breast or walls that are far out of square all mean more cutting and scribing on site. Our example adds a quarter for a sloped ceiling.
Sliding doors often come in a little cheaper per metre and need no space to swing open. See the sliding wardrobe cost calculator for the same wall with sliding doors.
How to measure for a guide price
Measure the wall wall-to-wall at skirting-board height, then the ceiling height at a couple of points. Round to the nearest 100 mm. That is enough for a guide price; the fitter measures properly at survey.
Questions
Is this a quote?
No. It is a guide price from example rates, so you know roughly what to expect. Only a fitter who has seen the room can give you a quote.
Where do the example rates come from?
They are the starting rates GuidePrice gives a new fitter before they put in their own. They are not an average of UK prices, and no firm is bound by them.
Why is the price a range and not one figure?
Because nobody has measured your room yet. Walls that are out of true, the exact internal layout and access all move the final price. A range is the honest answer at this stage.
Does the price include fitting?
Yes. The examples assume design, manufacture and fitting in one price. Removing old wardrobes, making good plaster and decorating are usually extra; ask your fitter.
Are you a fitter?
